Degree Plan Change Notice
Regarding: CS 3320, Architecture II, Now a Technical Elective
Date: January 13, 2011
Changes: On the 2008-2010 Degree Plan CS 3320, Computer Architecture II, was a required course. In the new degree plan it is a technical elective. The number of required technical electives is increased from 4 to 5.
Rationale: This change was made to increase student choice, given that that the topics unique to this course are not essential for all students' career goals. However students in general, even those without immediate interest in these topics, are still encouraged to take this class, especially if considering graduate school.
Procedure: This change will eventually appear as part of a new degree plan included in the University Catalog, however it is effective immediately. Students considering using this change in their own degree plans are encouraged to meet with their advisor to discuss whether it makes sense for them. If you decide to use this change, your advisor will note this fact in your advising folder and contact the Undergraduate Program Director for documentation in the form of a waiver memo, which will then remain in your folder for use in the graduation-check process.
