Current information on departmental computing resources, including the description of the labs, hours of operation, available software, and major pieces of equipment, is provided by the Computer Science Tech Support (CSTS) website.
Students in the CS program have access to the following labs:
- One open Windows lab (the “main lab” CCSB 1.0706)
- Two closed instructional Windows labs (CCSB 1.0704, CCSB 1.0410)
- One Windows-based software engineering lab (CCSB 1.0702)
- One Windows TA lab (TA lab CCSB G.0512)
The university provides access to computers across campus, including a CyberCafe in the Student Union, the Collaborative Learning Center in the Library, and mobile computing areas.
In addition to the labs, the department and college provide student laptop checkout. Students have access to MyDesktop.utep.edu and My.Apps.utep.edu, which provides students, faculty, and staff access to many software applications 24 hours a day, seven days a week from virtually any computer with an Internet connection, regardless of location.
Computer Science hosts a variety of equipment to meet its research needs. A description of research equipment, which has been funded by grants and donations, is provided by CSTS website.
