Aizula is a system that can produce back-channel feedback, such as uh-huh and mm, as well as a human, in some cases. This is the Windows port of the original program which ran under Linux.
Note: This program requires the GTK+ runtime environment version 2.10.6-1, which is included in the download. If you have GTK+ libraries of a different version in your system they will be overridden.
Download Aizula for Windows version 1.1
Download Source Code (Visual Studio 2003)
Run all the steps of the installation program, including the installation of the GTK+ libraries. The installer will create a shortcut to the program in your programs menu.
Before running the program, make sure you have a microphone connected to your PC and set
the microphone input to a reasonable value (75% is a good starting point). To do this, go to the Volume Control program under Accessories->Entertainment menu. When the Volume Control application is opened, go to Options->Properties->Microphone Mixer Device. Adjust Volume.
Start Aizula by clicking the entry "Aizula -> Run Aizula" in your programs menu.
Note: If "Aizula" does not appear in your start menu, you can find the executable in:
C:\Program Files\Aizula.
Press the "Calibrate" button. Speak a few utterances so that the program parameters are tuned
to your voice.
Press "Start".
Now you're ready to start talking. Press either the "English" button or the "Arabic" button.
Start talking. The program will produce back-channel feedback at the correct places in the dialogue.
If you need to re-calibrate, make sure to press "Start" after pressing "Calibrate".
The program will update its display continuously showing the energy and pitch of your speech.
