Evaluations CS100 Introduction to Computers Fall 1999
- Dr. Roach does a good job in
presenting the major concepts of lab. His introduction to each lab is very
helpful.
- What doesn't he know?
- I have gained a lot from
taking this course
- Too often, too much is askes of us in the
lab.
- This is a computer
proficiency and technology literacy course. You are expected to be proficient in the use of
software tools at the end of the course, not just familiar with them. We
(this department, this school, and this college, as indicated by our commitment
to the General Education Technology Proficiency requirement) believe you
will derive great benefit in your college career and later by having the
ability to use word processors, spreadsheet software, and internet tools.
- To obtain proficiency, we believe you need practice.
The more proficient you are, the less practice you need. For example, I
believe I am proficient in the use of the software tools. I and the other
instructors of the course were able to complete the assignments in 10 to
25 minutes. Thus a proficient student would need only spend a half an
hour per week to complete the work required, a rather minimal expectation
for a 3 credit hour course. A less proficient student would need to spend
more time. If it took you more time than a half an hour or so, that is in
indication that you need more practice.
- The lab book was terrible!
- To much useless busy work. Spent more time
on it than learning the material. It took up more time than the class
should have.
- See my response to
the comments two previous.
- He seems as if he doesn't
care whether we know what to do or not.
- He's really smart, but he
won't help us.
- I have learned some, but not
the stuff I need to know.
- He could do lots better
because he is smart.
- I haven't learned very much.
This class could be taught better.
- Dr. Roach before every class
takes you through every step of what we are learning for that day. And
also he walks around during class to answer questions.
- Roach is very knowledgable,
but hard to understand.
- The labs are way too long. I was only able
to finish 1 lab in 2 hrs. The instructions on the labs are very
confusing and are hard to follow.
- See my previous
response to this comment.
- I didn't feel comfortable in
his class because every time I would ask him a question he would make me
feel dumb for asking it.
- Personal help with labs if
needed. One-to-one
- He definately knows the
material
- There was an overload of info
for an intro class. With so much being thrown at us, it was hard to absorb
to much info
- At times instructor talks dow
to you when you struggle with something easy. Sometimes, some what
expecting us to already know the material.
