Comments:
1.
Good pace, enjoyed the
class. Motivates the student to
learn. Great professor.
2.
I liked how this class introduced me to new real
world technologies. Excellent class, had every thing I expected and more.
3.
Keep up the good work! Class was challenging and fun; keep the jokes
coming.
4.
I really liked the format Dr. Roach used to
instruct the class. I was never stressed
out during the semester since there were no exams. This “hands-on” approach worked really well
for me.
5.
Fun class.
6.
Very good class.
We needed more time to learn more about web services. Sometimes I got disappointed because Dr.
Roach did not know the answer for the doubts I had, and although there is a lot
of documentation, sometimes I couldn’t figure out the solution.
Web services is an emerging
topic in computer science. The .NET architecture and implementation has only
been available for a short time. The course itself was experimental. Dealing
with new technologies is a significant part of the field of computer science.
First, it is not possible for me to know everything about every new technology,
or even everything about this new technology. Second, as a graduate student, I
expect you to be able to read, search, and experiment to find solutions to your
questions. This is the nature of graduate education. I told you when we started
the course that you would be teaching me how this technology works!
7.
This class was worth taking! I feel that I learned a lot about web
services and I enjoyed the challenge of the hands-on assignments. Dr. Roach did an excellent job in teaching this
course!
8.
The book was good but all the examples were in
Visual Basic and we used C++. I liked
the class very much because web services is one of the
most important topics in computer science.
Thanks to Dr. Roach for worry about Web Services. I have would like to have more practices in
the lab. More simple exercises to
practice.
As a graduate student, I expect you to be
able to translate between VB and C#.
As a graduate student, I expect you to spend
more time practicing and I expect you to do more exercises than I assign for
grade.
9.
This was a class in which it was a pleasure to
learn. The information was clear and
concise. It was entailing new cutting
edge technology. I think that this
should be a 2 semester course as there is just so much information to be
covered in 1 semester. Dr. Roach was an
excellent instructor and should continue to teach this course and should be
funded appropriately for further research in this field of study.
10. The
class was enjoyable and even though it may not seem apparent I learn a lot of practical
information.
11. Very
interesting course. I learned a lot
doing the labs as well as the homeworks. The only thing I suggest is maybe add a few
more labs during the semester.
12. Need
to set up specific times (does not have to be during class time) for students
to show you their labs.
13. The
class was informative. I liked the pace
of the class and the way in which it was taught.
14. The
class had a super relax atmosphere which made learning much better. Assignments were difficult but manageable,
they made you think but learn like in no other class. The whole no test policy is the best,
although I haven’t taken the final.
Overall I learned much thanks to the relax atmosphere with lectures and
homework assignment policies.
15. Good
use of slides. Available to students to
answer questions. Knowledgeable about
the subject. Too many projects. Was a good idea in using many small projects
to develop one big one but the end product was too complicated for this being a
first time course. Subject was great and
I learned a lot in this class.
16. The
course was very challenging and provided solid hands on experience with web
services. My only critic would be that
the department should create a specific lab that students can sue to develop
web services from.
This is currently under discussion in the
department. We hope to have a lab such as this available in the fall.
17. Everything
was great. I wouldn’t change a thing.
