CS 3331 Spring 2007.

1.  Great variety of questions and activities.  Last P2P project was too difficult to finish on time.

2.  This was an excellent class.  I've had more fun in this class than any other. Good job.

3.  Presented concepts clearly and thoroughly.  Actually made me learn a lot from the class.  Assignments are sometimes tough, but enough time is given.  Only problem is that we didn't receive a grade from all our assignments.

4.  Create a lab for this class in which TA can give a sense and ideas on homeroom assignments.

3331 is intended to be a transition course where we require that students be more independent. Part of your job making this transition is to find the TA or instructor when you need assistance. Your future employers will expect no less.

5.  Why bother instilling fear? Sometimes great at explaining things sometimes does a poor job.  If he wants us to read, learn on our own, why not mentor the chapter section on the book.  I demo I don't hate him, I don't like him.

It is not my intent to instill fear. It is my intention to explain clearly my expectations. Some students find this intimidating. For example, some students are uncomfortable with my expectation that they be able to produce working code. I am uncomfortable with the thought that students will graduate without that ability here. Yes, I want you to learn on your own. This ability will be the one that serves you best in your future career. “Learning on your own” implies that I do not have to explain to you how to find a particular topic in the book. All of the books I use for class have tables of contents and indices. As for the quality of my explanations, can you give me some concrete examples?

6.  Very worthwhile class.  I do some programming a job after taking this course, I notice the quality of my code increases substantially as I approach concepts learned in this course.

7.  Most everything was excellent.  I just have a little problem with time on the exam not enough.

8.  Felt like I accomplished more in the CS course in all my previous CS courses combine regardless of what grade I may get.  Because not all students like hard asses for professors, but the ones that do are the ones who actually learn tank you.

9.  Don't take this class was software English 1! Don't take any class with software 1.

I assume you mean Software Engineering I, CS4310. No, don’t take this with CS4310. This course is a prerequisite to 4310.

10.  Such an excellent instructor always willing to help you and improve our knowledge.

11.  Good class good material.

12.  Good class nice intro to UML and design patterns.  No complaint with anything only partial, but the rest of the comments will probably inflate his ego enough.  So just keep it up for me.

13.  I felt the class was very good overall.  The pros were that the class is very challenging, and I learned a lot.  The cons were that the questions to the exams were extremely lengthy and wordy.  I found myself spending more time trying to find out what the questions were asking.  I honestly feel that the exam questions were clearer and to the point I would have been able to demonstrate my knowledge of the material more thoroughly.  Also, having only two exams can hurt grades.

14.  Excellent teacher.  Attempts to teach the students lessons beyond ADo that are not very helpful in our future.  Did not like that the class was co-taught.  Would not recommend the pair in the future.  The teaching styles are two different.

15.  The first lecture was all about the ways you can fail the class.  Maybe this is to professors with different styles.  It made the class very inconsistent.  I would recommend to any other student not to take a class in this configuration.  Grades were given and then changed on the first test after was passed up that in my opinion was a partial curve that helped out only to raise the greater part of our class.  Now that the course is over, I feel like learned a great deal in spite or maybe because of the challenges.  Additionally, the grading of assignments was longer than two months in some cases unacceptable.

16.  The exams are formatted very differently from our class assignments.  Taking the test almost felt like it was new material at times.  It was hard to understand what you really wanted from us.

The material on the tests was in fact material we discussed in class. It was not always presented in exactly the same format. Many of the course outcomes are at the synthesis level (see Bloom’s Taxonomy), and the requirement is that you be able to apply concepts in new situations.

17.  This has been the most difficult class I've ever had.  While Dr. roach is an excellent teacher, I don't feel he is very accommodating.  I do not feel that my final grade is going to be an accurate representation of what I have learned.  Dr. Pinheiro is not very at explaining what he wants.  He has the ability to talk for an hour without saying anything.  Though it's obvious he is knowledgeable on the topic recovered just.  He just does not communicate very well.
