Evaluations CS150 Introduction to Programming in Visual
Basic Spring 1999
- His presentation of subject
matter is not the problem, the problem is he just expects too much out of
his students for a basic programming class.
- BASIC is the name of the computer language we use
in this course.
- What I covered in the course are the fundamentals of
writing code in a third-generation language. I have taught courses
similar to this one at other institutions, and I have discussed this
course with dozens of instructors around the country. The content of this
course is in line with expectations elsewhere, as well as in agreement
with other instructors in my department here.
- This is another problem area.
He is so good at programming, that he thinks everyone knows a much as he
does, while the class are just starting to program in their first
language.
- He assigns programs that take
too long. And most basic programmers do not have the background of skills
to do.
- See my comments for
the first comment on this page.
- I learned a lot of
programming but I the amount of work I could not due very easy.
- Very knowledgeable about
subject matter more than qualified
- He gives assignments w/ no backup.
I struggled through a class that anyone else w/ a different teacher
breezed through. The class was supposed to be the easiest Basic language
& was presented poorly
- I'm sure you feel
sorry for them. How lucky you are to have been challenged, exposed to new
ideas, and given the opportunity to grow.
- The course was much harder
than a 150 class should be.
- The designation
"100" does not imply "free of content", "no time
requried", or "no effort necessary". It simply means that
the prerequisites include only standard college preparatory high school
knowledge and ability.
- Given a better text book,
this could be outstanding.
- The department has
selected a different book for the next semester.
- The book used is poor. Many
concepts are not covered to the depth needed.
- Learned a lot from doing
excercises Needs less trial & error though.
- Not clear, teaches like class
is a 300 level class.
- Great class for anyone who
wants to learn beginning programming.
- Sometimes uses difficult
terms but otherwise is great
- He's programmed for a long
time and uses his knowledge well to compliment the book
- I have learned a great deal
and he corrects without criticizing.
- I have learned well from his
style of teaching
- Helps people to know whether
they should stick with computers or not.
