CS 1401 Assignment #2

Date Assigned: Wednesday, January 26, 2005

Due Date: Wednesday, February 2, 2005, before the beginning of your lab section.

Goals: the goals of this assignment are to learn hands-on the basic Java notions such as objects, variables, strings, assignment, input, output, etc.

Points: This assignment is worth a total of 20 points. No late assignments will be accepted, but credit will be given for partially completed assignments turned in on time.

Assignment:
We hope that after the graduation, you will not only succeed professionally and financially beyond your own wild expectations, but that you will also not forget about the next generation of students - and help them succeed by donating some of your future thousands and millions to the stipend fund. In preparation, we would like you to start preparing a cover letter that will accompany your future gift.

Design an application class that will do the following:

  Dear Department Head,

I, (your first name and last name),
am very happy to have studied in your department in the past. The
education I received helped me in my professional success.

I do not want to help professors because they tortured us with the
  homeworks and labs :-(

But I do want to donate (amount here)
to the stipend fund that will help CS students go through school.

  Yours

  (your first name)

Example: For example, if your name is Gang Xiang, and you want to donate $2,000,000, the computer should print the following letter:

  Dear Department Head,

  I, Gang Xiang,
am very happy to have studied in your department in the past. The
education I received helped me in my professional success.

I do not want to help professors because they tortured us with the
  homeworks and labs :-(

But I do want to donate $2,000,000
to the stipend fund that will help CS students go through school.

  Yours

  Gang

Deliverables: as announced in the labs and explained in the handouts given to you in the labs.
