Overview

Cybersecurity exercises provide several benefits, not only to participants, as training, but also to analysts. These events provide mechanisms to stimulate novel ideas for solving issues in cybersecurity. They can also be used to collect realistic data for empirical research, analysis, and validation. The collaborative innovation testbed generator (CIT-GEN) is a system used for managing cybersecurity innovation exercises, to include workshops, hackathons, and trainings/tutorials. All aspects of these exercises, including virtual machines, remote connections, etc. are managed through this system, which has both a frontend and backend interfaces. This system is used in several courses offered by UTEP. .
